RIELLE HUNTER CLAIMS JOHN EDWARDS HAD OTHER MISTRESSES: Rielle Hunter, the mother of John Edwards' out-of-wedlock child, claims in her new memoir out next week that she wasn't the former Democratic senator's only mistress. According to ABC News, Hunter writes in What Really Happened that the two-time presidential candidate and 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee had affairs with at least two other women dating back 20 years. Hunter is vague in the book about the current status of her relationship with Edwards, but suggests they remain romantically involved, writing, "I really have no idea what will happen with us. The jury is still out. But I can honestly say that the ending is of no concern to me anymore. The love is here. And as sappy as it may sound, I love living in love." Hunter has harsh words for Edwards' late wife, Elizabeth, who died of cancer in 2010, repeatedly describing her as crazy, venomous, and routinely angry at her husband, at who she barked demands. Hunter says Elizabeth drove Edwards into the arms of other women, and calls her a "witch on wheels" who worked to maintain a public persona as a, quote, "saint." Hunter also excuses Edwards for denying for months that their daughter was his, saying that he was, quote, "temporarily insane" when he issued such denials in an August 2008 ABC News interview. She writes, "Think about it: Sane healthy people do not deny their children, especially on national TV, simply because they are afraid of their abusive spouse's reaction. Only a mentally off person would do that."
