The holidays come and go so quickly these days but I hope you had a really memorable Valentine's Day ...I was so amazed at some of the facts surrounding this romantic day that I wanted to share some that you may not be aware of...here we go. Consumers put over 3.5 billion dollars towards a romantic evening on the town with their partner. Some 70 percent of singles said they would not mind a blind date for the occasion. Around 220-thousand wedding proposals are made on Valentine's Day. How lonely is this...15-percent of women will send themselves flowers and this one does not surprise me...some 367-million dollars is spent on Valentine's Day gifts for people's pets. Have a good work week and will talk with you later....Lee |

If you are not a romantic and would just as soon skip the celebration of Valentines Day...here are a few suggestions...steer clear of Hallmarks and the chocolate aisles at the pharmacy...do your taxes.....don't go out to dinner..think fast food or buffets, places couples will not be......avoid Facebook....go to the gym or just pick another holiday to celebrate, like your half birthday and throw an unrelated party on the 14th....but just the same let me wish you a Happy Valentines and will be talking with you again soon...check out our Magic website for some fun things to do...www.magic989online.com ...Lee |

A Real Hero

It does my heart good to hear about people who you would never think of as becoming heroes...but such is the case of 64-year old Karen Granville of Daytona Beach. When she heard a police helicopter over her house, she saw a man trying to get out of her yard by climbing the fence. She grapped her gun and told the man to "freeze". or she would shoot him. Needless to say, the man did just as he was told until police arrested him.. He was facing numerous charges. No fear in this situation...way to go Karen, you are my hero for a long time to come...talk with you later....Lee |

It sure is hard to believe that the new year is just about here , so I wanted to share with you a few tips on how to save money before the clock strikes 2012. Dozens of tax breaks expire on Dec. 31st, so grab them in time....check the terms of your medical flexible savings account....get charitable checks in the mail or donate online to claim a deduction for 2011...make annual gifts to family and friends....max out your 401K and if you're self-employed, be sure to set up a one-person 401K plan because ,so long as you set it up by Dec. 31st, you can make contributions for 2011 until the due date of your 2011 return with extensions as late as Oct. 15, 2012...Hope this will help you some...will talk with you again soon....Lee |

Since this is the week of Christmas...I thought I would share some interesting facts regarding the most wonderful time of the year.....The tradition of hanging stockings over the fireplace derived from Dutch children placing their shoes next to the fireplace on Christmas Eve. Stockings later replaced the shoes. Thomas Edison's assistant, Edward Johnson, came up with the idea of electric lights for Christmas trees in 1882 and the red stripe in the candy cane was intended by the inventor as the blood of Christ.....Merry Christmas my wonderful Magic listeners....talk with you later....Lee |

The lights proved safer than the traditional candles.
